Classic coats
So many coat styles, yet only one place to start. Yep, we’re kicking off our guide with a glance at our fave classic coat styles: trench coats, peacoats and Chesterfield coats. Offering both fashion and functionality, these three classic coats have stood the test of time and it’s easy to see why.

Trench coats
Initially designed for military use in World War I, trench coats usually come in classic shades (think khaki, beige, black, and navy). They're typically made of water-resistant fabric with a double-breasted front, shoulder epaulets, a belt and storm flap.

Chesterfield coats
Named after the Earl of Chesterfield in the mid-19th century, this woolly coat style is single-breasted or double-breasted with a velvet collar. Its minimalistic design is often knee-length and comes in classic colours like black, grey and charcoal.
Not only do these coat styles elevate casual outfits, but they also complement elegant ones. We know, win-win! So, if you’ve got a special occasion coming up, consider snapping up a classic coat from TK. With savings of up to 60% less than the RRP, you can be all fancy without spending a fortune. And we all know what that means… more money for celebratory drinks!
Stylish coats
We’re not sayin’ classic coats aren’t stylish coats, but there’s a bunch of new designs on the block and they’re a pretty big deal. If you look to the world’s most fashionable cities – think London, New York, Paris and Milan dahling! – you’ll see everything from statement shearling coats to cape and cocoon coats. But which styles reign supreme? Well, there are three: oversized coats, teddy coats and puffer jackets.
Stylish coat styles often blend traditional elements with contemporary trends, so you’ll probs spot some familiar features from above. They say you can’t beat the classics, but these three designs give ‘em a good run for their money. Fashionable yet functional, these stylish coats will cover you for a whole host of occasions (we’re talking dog walks to dinner parties) and, dare we say it, they cater to a wider range of personal tastes.
Seasonal coats
Living in this country, you can’t rely on one coat to cover you all-year-round (so sad, but so true). That’s why we’ve compiled some seasonal coat suggestions below. From spring shackets to winter warmers, you’ll discover recommendations for all climate conditions. FYI, as much as we’d absolutely LOVE to, we can’t control the weather… so don’t blame us if, in one week, you find yourself wearing styles from all four seasonal-coat edits. We’re in Blighty, after all!

Our top 3 coat-buying tips
Finding the right coat is not only important in terms of fit, but it's also kind of the first thing people see on your body... so you want to bag one you really love. Plus, picking the right coat can also be an investment for years to come. Yes, it's often the most expensive part of an outfit, but that doesn't mean you can't save serious £££ on coat styles (more on that later!) Before we tell you all about how you can cop a bargain, here are our top three coat-buying tips...
-
Take your time choosing
Try on coats in a whole range of fabrics, cuts and styles to find out what works for you
-
Leave space for layers
When the temps drop, you may want to wear thick jumpers, cardis and gilets underneath
-
Length is important
If you're petite, go for short or mid-length coat styles and if you're taller, look to longer ones
Finishing touches
So, you’ve found the perfect coat and it fits like a dream... now it’s time to talk accessories. Not the ‘super sparkly handbag’ kind however – we absolutely adore them, but (for once?) it’s not their time to shine – we mean the layering-up type. Lovely layers with lovely little prices. ‘Cause if you’ve got a new coat, you’re going to want to wear it everywhere and come up with a whole host of weather-proof styling options.
