Our Workplace

Our business is made up of many incredible people who all bring their own unique qualities, experiences and views, reflecting the communities in which we work. We believe that everyone should work in an environment where they can flourish, regardless of their background. Quite simply, great people make our company great. As part of our commitment to support vulnerable children and help young people to fulfil their potential, we are proud to work with The King’s Trust on a number of initiatives to address barriers to employment.

The King’s Trust Awards

TK Maxx and Homesense have been proud headline sponsors of The King's Trust and TK Maxx & Homesense Awards since 2016.

The Awards celebrate the successes and inspirational stories of young people who have been supported by The King's Trust. It showcases the impact of The Trust’s work building the confidence and skills needed to gain employment, pursue education, begin training or even start their own business.

Many of the winners have overcome significant barriers to transform their lives and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

The Homesense Young Achiever award recognises a young person who has overcome substantial barriers to grow their confidence and transform their life.

Helping young people achieve their potential

Since 2013, TK Maxx and Homesense’s partnership with The King’s Trust has been able to support over 8,500 young people in building a better future for themselves, empowering them with the skills and confidence for a brighter future by providing training, development, and employment opportunities through programmes including Get Into, Achieve and Change A Girl's Life.

Get into

TK Maxx and Homesense are proud to have helped over 2,200 young people through our ‘Get into’ employability programmes which we run in partnership with The King’s Trust across retail, loss prevention, distribution and buying. The Get into programmes provide training, development and employment opportunities to help young people aged 16 to 30 to help build a better future. Over 80% of those who successfully complete the programme go on to pursue a career with us.

Achieve

Since 2016, together with our customers, TK Maxx and Homesense have raised over £2.3m for The King’s Trust’s Achieve programme, which has helped to re-engage over 6,200 young people back into education. The Achieve education programme prepares young people for life after school by supporting and developing wellbeing, skills for life, and employment aspirations.

Inclusion & Diversity

We live and work in cities, towns and villages from Aberdeen in the UK to Zabrze, in Poland. We believe each of our associates brings something unique to our collective culture – a diversity of experience, gender, ethnicity, age, viewpoint and more. Diversity isn’t something we tick off a checklist, it’s something we’re proud of and celebrate.

At heart of our business is treating all of our customers and associates with dignity and respect and we have a long history, both as a retailer and an employer, of valuing diversity. We’re committed to creating an environment of inclusion in our business that reflects the wonderful diversity of our customer population, wherever we operate.
