Essential jumpers for every season

A solid collection of men's jumpers is the foundation of any layered look. They’re the perfect mid-layer, adding warmth and texture without the bulk.

Zip neck and crew neck jumpers

These are your everyday heroes. A classic crew neck over a crisp white tee is a foolproof combination. For a slightly smarter edge, a zip neck jumper layered over a collared shirt works brilliantly for the office or a weekend lunch.

Quilted jackets and sweatshirts

When the temperature drops, it’s time to bring out the heavier hitters. Men's quilted jackets offer excellent insulation and a classic, outdoorsy feel. For a more relaxed vibe, men's sweatshirts are perfect for throwing over a t-shirt for instant comfort.

Cardigans and V neck jumpers

Don’t underestimate the power of a good cardigan. It’s incredibly versatile – wear it open over a t-shirt for a casual look or buttoned up under a blazer for a smart-casual approach. V-neck jumpers are also great for showing off a patterned shirt underneath.

Mastering the art of layering

Layering isn’t just about throwing on clothes; it’s about creating a cohesive look. The secret is the three-layer system: a breathable base layer, an insulating mid-layer and a protective outer layer.

How to layer without looking bulky

The key to avoiding the 'Michelin Man' look is choosing the right fabrics. Opt for fine-gauge knits like merino wool for your mid-layers. Ensure each piece fits well on its own – if your base layer is too baggy, everything else will look messy.

Mixing colours and patterns

Start simple. A monochromatic look (different shades of the same colour) is always stylish. If you want to introduce patterns, stick to one patterned piece and keep the rest solid. A checked shirt under a plain jumper is a classic example.

Your layering essentials

Building a layered wardrobe starts with the basics.

Must-have base layers

Invest in good quality men's t-shirts and polo shirts. These are the foundation of your outfit, so they need to fit perfectly and feel comfortable against your skin.

Versatile mid-layers

This is where you can add personality. Men's gilets are fantastic for adding core warmth without restricting arm movement. Men's overshirts (or 'shackets') are another brilliant option, bridging the gap between a shirt and a jacket.

The perfect outer layers

Your final layer should tie the whole look together. Whether it’s a tailored overcoat for the commute or a casual bomber jacket for the weekend, explore our range of men's jackets and coats to find your perfect match.
