Our Community

  • Our aim is to help vulnerable children and young people achieve their full potential in our local communities focusing on those facing challenges with health, education and poverty. We do this by partnering with local and national charities.

Change a Girl's Life and Achieve

Since 2016, together with our customers, TK Maxx and Homesense have raised over £4.1m for The King's Trust, which has helped support over 7,600 young people across the Achieve and #changeagirlslife campaigns.

TK Maxx and Homesense support The King’s Trust to help transform the lives of young women across the UK. Many young women face barriers to fulfilling their potential. That’s why The King’s Trust #changeagirlslife campaign is raising vital funds to help thousands of young women build a better future for themselves. The courses offered by The King’s Trust help young women who face disadvantage and adversity to build the confidence and skills they need to move into work, training and education.

Pearse's Story

Pearse began school at an Irish medium school, where he was diagnosed with ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). After moving to a school better suited to his needs at age nine, he struggled with focus and anxiety, often acting out to cope. Later, at St Vincent’s Centre, he joined The King’s Trust Achieve programme, which helped him reflect on his behaviour and manage his emotions.

At 14, Pearse learned he was going to be a dad – news that motivated him to turn his life around. Despite the heartbreak of losing his 19-year-old brother to suicide a year later, Pearse showed resilience, supporting his family and continuing his education. He achieved eight Level 2 qualifications and is now studying to become a youth worker, aiming to inspire and support young people who need a positive role model.

Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People

Our long-running Give Up Clothes For Good campaign invites customers and associates to donate their pre-loved quality clothes, shoes and textiles at their local TK Maxx, which could be sold by Cancer Research UK to raise funds for research into children’s and young people’s cancers**.

Since 2004, TK Maxx customers and associates have raised over £45 million for Cancer Research UK's work into children's and young people's cancers.

**If your items can be sold in Cancer Research UK charity shops, this could extend the life of your wardrobe and raise vital funds for research into children’s and young people’s cancers.
