Festival Survival Guide - Outfit Ideas & Tips
If there’s one thing we Brits love (other than weather chat) it’s a good festival. It’s in our DNA. But with so many festivals on offer and sooo many things to consider – the festival outfit, porta-loo protocol and how to make camping bearable (difficult but possible) – it can be overwhelming. We know how to survive a festival so here's some festival ideas to guide you through everything you need to have an unforgettable festival season.
What to pack for a festival
There are all kinds of festivals from kid-friendly family festivals and huge rock festivals to festivals overseas or on the beach. Even festivals in the snow or city-based day festivals. But what to take with you? How do you pack so you look presentable on day three of sleeping in a tent? Worry not, we have the essential rave outfits and festival tips to see you through days in a field or a night you won’t soon forget.
Day festival
If you’re going to a festival in your local city for one day of music and fun, then there are still some considerations to make. From making eyes at the drummer of a band or crowd-surfing in a mosh pit (it could happen), make sure you’re prepared – without having to spend more than the price of your festival ticket on the kit.

SHOP BAGS
Carry it all & carry-on dancing
If you’re dancing all night, you’re gonna wanna go hands free with a crossbody or bumbag to store your essentials: wallet, glowsticks, lip balm (y’know, the must-haves).
Camping festival
This is a rite of passage for most people, braving the elements, warm drinks in plastic cups and sweaty nights in a flimsy tent. All while dancing in a field for hours and adding 126 new contacts to your phone. If you are camping at a festival, allow us to make it a total breeze.
-
SHOP BACKPACKS
Pack it up
Even if you’re far from Bear Grylls you can survive a few days in a tent. You just need to make sure you pack the right stuff, firstly you’ll need a good, sturdy backpack to put it in… and we can help.
-
SHOP OUTDOOR
All the (camping) gear
Yes yes, we know you want to look like an Instagram Influencer at Coachella… but you’re in a mud pit in England. Make your time comfortable with outdoor gear that’ll help you brave the elements. From big brand clothing to clever accessories.
Beach festival
Oh you lucky, lucky thing. Not only do you get to dance to some of your favourite DJs and bands… but you get to do it by the sea! Sun, sand and some band you’re obsessed with. What could be better? Literally nothing. Now, what to pack.
-
SHOP SUNCARE
Have (safe) fun in the sun
The DJ could be red hot but the last thing you need is red lobster skin. Slather yourself in quality SPF from trusted brands and make sure to regularly reapply. You’ll thank us when you have no wrinkles in 10 years.
-
SHOP TRAVEL BAGS
Baggage you’ll want to claim
If you’re travelling a fair distance to party, you’ll want to make sure your luggage can handle the trip. Say buh bye to that old case with the wonky wheels, and hello to stylish, sturdy suitcases in bright colours.
Festival makeup inspiration
Whether you want to go fresh-faced or all-out, here are some easy makeup tips that’ll maybe get you backstage… one can hope.
-
Nail it
An easy way to add colour without worrying about sweating it all off is with a bold nail polish. A swipe of an on-trend nail polish shade, and you’re good to go. If you’re feeling fancy, why not go for a rainbow with a different colour on each nail?
-
Kissable lips
Make like Mick Jagger and ensure focus is on that pout of yours. A fiery red, a bright pink or any shade that makes you feel fab will do. If that’s not your thing, then keep your smackers hydrated with a luxe lip balm.
-
Fresh skin
We wouldn’t recommend full glam if you’re sleeping in a sweaty tent and dancing all day, but you’ll still want to look your best. Make sure to cleanse properly (baby wipes will do in a pinch) and slather on a good moisturiser and SPF. Et voila, fab festival skin.
Your festival checklist
How many of these do you have already? If you check off more than 9 you’re a festival VIP. Less than 5… better get shopping.
