How to Athleisure

Your easy athleisure how-to; because there’s a fine line between looking smart-casual and looking like you’re wearing your house clothes…

What is ‘Athleisure’ anyway?

According to our friend Google it’s “casual, comfortable clothing designed to be suitable both for exercise and everyday wear”. It’s a fashion trend that’s been strong for the past few years, but we’re not here to tell you what to wear… for us athleisure is the busy person’s style of choice. It means you can get a workout in before going out to dinner without being denied entry at a nice restaurant. So, read on for some top tips.

Athleisure maths

Let’s take the hard work out of the equation. These outfits just work.

  • When you’ve got yoga at 9am and brunch at 11am

You can namaslay in and out of the yoga studio. Simply start with your base of super-comfy yoga leggings and sports bra, then add some cool slides, an oversized jumper and some earrings to go to that bottomless brunch place.

  • When you’ve got the gym at 6am and a breakfast meeting at 8am

Time is of the essence and if you can only book onto a crack-of-dawn class then so be it. Ditch the shorts, keep the trainers then you can add smart trousers and a jacket to your activewear to take your look from fitness king to CEO in a jiffy.

When you’ve got a playdate at 2pm and a date date at 7pm

If you’re running around after the sprogs you want to be comfy and also wear something you don’t mind getting a little grubby. But what if you have date night straight after with no time to change? Simply add a nice jacket, red lippie and statement necklace.

  • When you've got five-a-side at 5pm and the pub at 8pm

If you can’t dress down with your pals, where can you? Having said that, it never hurts to smarten up. Football shirts and men’s activewear have been all over the catwalks, pair it with jeans and cool kicks and you’re bound to score.
