The TK Maxx & Homesense Foundation

TThe TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation’s mission is to support vulnerable children, young people, and their families to achieve their potential in our local communities. Over the last eight years, the Foundation has approved over £8.5 million in donations to thousands of local and national charities across Europe.

Inclusion and Diversity

One way the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation meets its mission is through the Inclusion and Diversity Fund, which has committed to donate to 32 organisations across Europe, who are working to achieve equity through the following five lenses:

  • • LGBTQIA+ equality
  • • Racial justice
  • • Mental health
  • • Disability
  • • Gender equality

The charities supported by the Foundation help to raise awareness and educate, provide access to opportunities where there are barriers for marginalised groups, and provide specialised services within our communities across Europe.

In the UK, the Foundation supports: Diversity Role Models, The Diana Award, Women’s Aid Federation of England, Blueprint for All, Access UK, Mind UK, Scope and Snowdon Trust.

The Community Fund

The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation funds and administers the Community Fund which enables TJX, TK Maxx and Homesense associates to nominate charities they are passionate about, to receive a donation to make a difference in their local communities.

Rebecca Nominated Claire House Children’s Hospice

"My colleague Izzy who was an associate at our Edge Lane store was diagnosed with a rare type of kidney cancer in 2019. It unfortunately spread to her liver and bones, but Claire House supported Izzy and her family massively, making her remaining time memorable. It was Claire House that made her final weeks safe at home. Izzy sadly passed away in May 2020. Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live their life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life."

Anne Nominated Ruff & Ruby

“My husband and I had gone into the shop purely for a coffee and cake and came out inspired having met the wonderful woman behind the project. We learnt about the amazing work she did with teenagers in our local area - part of which is she personally redecorates their bedrooms to give them one room where they can feel proud and safe. Proceeds from items sold in this area are dedicated to projects on the mental wellbeing of the youth in Stoke on Trent.”

Disaster and emergency response

In 2018, The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation became partners with the British Red Cross and joined their Disaster Relief Alliance. The Foundation donates annually to their Disaster Fund, which allows the British Red Cross, together with partners across their Movement, to rapidly respond to emergencies. It also allows them to prepare and act ahead of time to mitigate the risks of crises in the long-term.

Through this partnership, the Foundation helps the British Red Cross to support vulnerable communities, prepare for emergencies and respond rapidly when help is needed. In recent years, this has included those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the flooding in Pakistan and earthquakes in Turkey, Syria and Morocco.
