"Joining TJX Europe was a major change for me and I faced a very steep learning curve. I had spent 15 years as an operational Trading Standards Officer working for local government and had then run my own trading standards training consultancy for 15 years. So although I had some experience of business I had not worked on the other side of the enforcement fence. Also our unique and exciting buying model presents considerable challenges to ensure that we meet all trading standards legislation across Europe.

Working for TJX Europe is a roller coaster experience, everything moves so fast. What makes the job so good is the friendly and informal atmosphere. When things do get tough we work so well together and everybody helps one another. There is also plenty of fun and humour around; the many charity initiatives such as Comic Relief really bring this to the front.

I never imagined the wide range of work that I would need to cover. Sometimes it can be tough being the guy who has to say 'no we can't sell that' but I love working along side our Buyers across the world to ensure that we sell safe and legal goods. "
