'A long, long time ago...' In view of what I have already achieved, this is how I ought to start my story, but what happened is quite different. It was not so long ago when I started working at TK Maxx in Colchester, barely eighteen months, and this is how it all began.

The early period could have been hard, well, it could have been really difficult. My knowledge of the language was not great but I was given the benefit of the doubt. I tried to understand concepts that were at the time completely new to me - of Off-price and the way the shop was being run which at first might seem not at all well-ordered actually was well-ordered. At that time I still considered TK Maxx to be a store and not a whole company. A company which is a giant mechanism and each of its Associates is a cog without which the mechanism could not function. I love this aspect of TK Maxx, that each worker, each customer and each product is important.

At first I worked in the fitting room and on the tills. My managers were increasing my responsibilities and helping me perform new tasks. I quickly took over the children's department which became my "baby". Its reorganisation resulted in increased sales and the persistent efforts produced results. It turned out that I was so successful that I took over the whole ladies department and introduced measures to improve all the things that needed to be done. I was successful, and this success motivated me to develop further. Later I worked in every department within our store. Then, one day, a new opportunity appeared - the opening of stores in my country, Poland. It did not take long to make my decision and I decided to apply. What is incredible is the fact that while working for TK Maxx, one can be transferred to another store, another country, to set new challenges for oneself and to develop on many levels.

On the 7th September 2009 we opened the first shop in Czelada, Poland. Since then, TJX Europe continues to surprise and delight me with the multitude of its brands, the quality of its products, its prices and ideas. In Poland I started working in the ladies department. I also helped to train new Associates because I find it exciting to tell others about it and have the opportunity of sharing my passion for it with them. My energy and desire for further development has been valued and I became a team leader. This job gives me tremendous satisfaction and motivates me. Every month brings new surprises and there is no chance of ever being bored. Not long ago our shop was awarded a B.E.S.T certificate and now we can be proud of the fact that we are operating on an international level and our work is based on the highest standards. Why am I writing we and not I? Because TJX Europe is a team and not an individual, here it is all for one and one for all. Up to now, this company has been my best choice and everyone here feels at home."
